SOUNDTAXI provides different types of musical work:
a). Musical works wich are completely free from third-party claims or rights (e.g. by collection societies, performing rights organiations, musicians, composers, conductors, producers) are defined as 'royalty free' by SOUNDTAXI, and are appropriately identified in our catalog. For these tracks you do not have to pay any additional fees to any collection society!
Please note:
To show only 'royalty free' tracks on the SOUNDTAXI website, press the '100% royalty free' button at the search filter.
b).Musical works registered with a collection society such as BMI, ASCAP, PRS, etc. are explicitly identified by SOUNDTAXI as “registered with a collection society”. Such works are labeled with the name of the collection society in question. Upon securing a licensing agreement with SOUNDTAXI, the client/licensor must properly register these works with the identified collection agency where applicable. Music intended for domestic or international broadcast, or in-store usage, for example, must have cue sheets registered with the identified organization (ASCAP, BMI, etc.). This is a legal obligation of the customer/licensor.
To check the regional policies regarding cue sheets and public performance, please contact, or search the website of the organization in question (ASCAP, BMI, etc.).
In addition, music registered with a collection society may or may not be subject to mechanical royalties for music replicated on DVD, Audio books, CDs or presentation DVD/CD). If you are uncertain, please check with the rights organization identified by SOUNDTAXI.

This classification of films includes corporate videos, videos for trade shows or presentations, and industrial films. A product film is described as any film used to describe a product or service and its features, manufacturing process, functionality or usage. This is not to be mistaken with ‘product advertisement’ (see below).
Online ad campaign / viral video / microsite:
Promotional trailers and promotion videos announce a new (or pre-existing) product or service (including use on third party or external websites).
Product advertisements are films that may be included on third party websites and may be produced by advertising agencies, marketing companies, or the manufacturer. These films may be a part of an ongoing advertising campaign, and are aimed directly at consumers to elicit a call to action (purchasing a good or service) response.
Online commercials are similar to the category above, and are produced in a style similar to classic television/broadcast advertisements.
Paid advertising campaigns (campaigns used on third party sites) including, but not limited to: Banner ads, pop-up or pop-under ads.
Virals are any class of video used in viral marketing campaign strategies.
Microsites describe videos used in product or service microsite campaigns used for general promotion, or competitions associated with a product or service.
E-mail advertising / newsletter videos are those broadcast to consumers or clients through e-mail marketing or newsletter campaigns.
