SOUNDTAXI provides different types of musical work:
a). Musical works that are completely free from third-party claims or rights (e.g. by collection societies, performing rights organiations, musicians, composers, conductors, producers). Musical works that do not require permission from a collection society will be identified and appropriately labeled: “roy.free”. This music is free of any royalty obligations to ASCAP, BMI, PRS, SUISA, etc.

b).Musical works registered with a collection society such as BMI, ASCAP, PRS, etc. are explicitly identified by SOUNDTAXI as “registered with a collection society”. Such works are labeled with the name of the collection society in question. Upon securing a licensing agreement with SOUNDTAXI, the client/licensor must properly register these works with the identified collection agency where applicable. Music intended for domestic or international broadcast, or in-store usage, for example, must have cue sheets registered with the identified organization (ASCAP, BMI, etc.). This is a legal obligation of the customer/licensor.

In addition, music registered with a collection society may or may not be subject to mechanical royalties for music replicated on DVD, Audio books, CDs or presentation DVD/CD). If you are uncertain, please check with the rights organization identified by SOUNDTAXI.
GEMA*: Some of our songs that are registered with german collecting society GEMA are are additionally indicated by an asterisk (*). These songs are completley royalty free for the use for advertising purposes.
Social network services and video-sharing websites like Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Sevenload:
If you use music identified by SOUNDTAXI as being registered to a collection society (ASCAP, BMI, etc.), you are not responsible for paying additional royalties, unless you are the website operator. The hosting site (Youtube, Facebook, Vimeo) is responsible for any royalties due. If you embed videos in your own site (including embedded Youtube videos), however, royalty fees may be applied.
